The departments may or may not be hiring at this time but will be reviewing the applicants in this pool when needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Survey Research Aide: Basic understanding of social science research techniques; ability to use spreadsheets; understanding of basic statistical analysis techniques; ability to work independently; ability to comprehend goals of study; ability to follow detailed instructions; ability to work for extended periods in a remote, outdoor setting; ability to communicate effectively with public and represent the university in a professional manner; careful attention to detail.
Boreal Ecology Field Assistant: Experience and interest in natural sciences, knowledge of boreal plant species; the ability to negotiate rugged terrain in remote field conditions; basic computer spreadsheet software skills.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in fieldwork, data analysis, as well as coursework in biology/ecology or other related field.
Horticulture Assistant: Prepare seedbeds, plant, maintain and harvest research plots.
-Collect samples and record experimental data.
Assist in landscape construction projects building retaining walls, bed edging, pathways, rock work.
Duties may involve strenuous physical labor outdoors, such as lifting fertilizer bags, rocks and containers of soil, working around farm machinery such as tractors, rototillers, trucks, and hand and power tools.
Laboratory Assistant: Perform various laboratory-related duties in carious types of laboratory settings.
Reindeer Program Field Assistant: Knowledge of farm operations, knowledge of large animals, knowledge of use of and maintenance for ATV, boat or snowmachines.
Preferred Experience & Education: 1 year related experience.
Required Experience & Education: Survey Research Aide: Minimum of two years or 40 credit hours of undergraduate coursework towards a bachelor's degree.
Valid driver's license required.
Boreal Ecology Field Assistant: Valid driver's license.
Horticulture Assistant: Adequate to perform the assigned duties.
Laboratory Assistant: Adequate to perform the assigned duties.
Reindeer Program Field Assistant: Adequate to perform the assigned duties.
Salary Information: This is a part-time, non-exempt temporary position.
New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, based on education and experience.
