Fairbanks' First Stabilization Center is hiring to fill the positions listed below.
POSITION SUMMARY: COS Tech, embraces and facilities the organization philosophy “doing everything we can to aid in the healing and support of the person in need,” model to stabilize and enrich the participant’s lives.
This position is responsible for providing assistance and supervision to adolescences and adults who are in a crisis.
This position maintains a crisis respite home-like environment.
This position focus on three goals: 1) observation, 2) stabilization, 3) find placement for the patient for continued care.
Assumes responsibility for enhancing patients’ personal well-being and promoting social and emotional functionality as well as monitoring for crisis stabilization when appropriate.
Hours include 12- hour shifts and or week on week off shifts.
You will be responsible for providing outreach, support and telephonic recovery check-ups to individuals struggling with behaviors health.
You will provide SUD counseling, didactic education, healing, hope and guidance to patients and family members (adults and youth) to assist them in understanding and coping with substance dependence issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES COS Technicians will provide crisis intervention services, including information gathering, assessment, brief skill-based interventions, and safety planning, with the goal of immediate symptom reduction, and stabilization.
COS Technicians will engage patients from a trauma informed person-centered approach Provide Trauma informed care COS Technicians will determine and facilitate clients to the appropriate level of mental health care.
COS Technicians will assess and engage with individuals experiencing psychosis and substance abuse.
COS Technicians must be able to check vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate and provide documentation.
COS Technicians must a be able to answer patient calls.
COS Technicians will work with first responders (police) and other community members (faith-based organizations, county, and city employees, etc.
) COS Technicians will be responsible for assessing clients for safety (suicidal/homicidal ideations/plans/gestures/means/intent).
COS Technicians will be responsible for completing safety plans with clients when hospitalization is not warranted.
COS Technicians will be responsible for completing a petition when client needs psychiatric hospitalization COS Technicians will assess the client for indicators of abuse, neglect, and trauma-related diagnoses.
COS Technicians will provide De-Escalation -crisis intervention.
COS Technicians will provide case management, outreach, and engagement services as needed.
COS Technicians will attend relevant training and meetings, some of which may be outside of scheduled hours, (but for which workers will be compensated).
COS Technicians will be expected to perform administrative tasks in accordance with agency procedures, including accurate documentation.
COS Technicians will be responsible for training regularly.
COS Technicians will be cross trained on all crisis programs at Restore Inc.
, Behavior Health & Detox COS Technicians will use the Behavioral health Recovery Model COS Technicians are expected to be team players and help provide coverage sometimes when other team members are out sick or on vacation.
COS Technicians will engage from a culturally competent perspective COS Technicians will collaborate within a team environment to provide best outcomes for clients served.
COS Technicians will be assigned designated shifts each week during which time they will be expected to provide crisis intervention services (telephone and or mobile response).
COS Technicians are expected to work some evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Utilize harm reduction, social, environmental, and motivational, strategies to support patients, in collaboration with interdisciplinary clinical team clinicians, and support staff.
Prepares and delivers didactic alcohol/drug education to o population served.
Conduct and document individual counseling sessions with patients at regular intervals determined by the individual’s needs.
Coach patient individually on problems with transitions, supportive independent living skills, substance use, and accessing needed recourses in the community.
Works with patients to complete all intakes, admissions, treatment plans, discharges, and transfer paperwork.
Ensures compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 (Federal Confidentiality Regulations) and 45 CFR, Parts 160 & 164 (HIPAA) Ensures compliance with local, State, Federal and Restore Inc.
, rules, regulations, and policies.
Always acts in the best interests of the program and company; honors, supports, and protects the proprietary data and rights of the company.
Ensures the reading and understanding of the Policy and Procedures Manual.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Ability to become a QAP (Qualified Addiction Professional) Certification in substance abuse counseling.
(Counselor Technician (CT) and/or Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC1) preferred).
Completes CARF Agency training Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Minimum two years’ experience as a substance abuse counselor and/or case manager, in a licensed and/or accredited substance abuse treatment facility (experience in a dual- diagnosis setting preferred).
Able to work in a high tolerance Harm Reduction and Abstinence model with patient s who have multiple barriers.
Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel Detail oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, and computer skills Able to learn quickly and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and with minimal supervision Able to obtain and maintain CPR/1st Aid certification Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the principles and practices of harm reduction, culture, terminology, and literature Working knowledge of criminal justice system Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus Minimum 30 WPM typing speed Work Environment Combination of field and office environment, Must be able to provide vacuuming, sanitizing work area and patient area Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
