We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team as the Program Assistant for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) Program.
The successful candidate will gain professional development and training opportunities in program evaluation, health and wellness and more.
Job requires local travel within the Fairbanks district with a personal vehicle; may require traveling to other districts in Alaska or out of state.
This position requires a creative self-starter with strong computer skills; knowledge of program evaluation, database entry, and maintenance and the ability to file and organize large amounts of information; exceptional organizational, and time management skills and ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Nutrition Education (SNAP-Ed) is a nationwide nutrition education and obesity prevention program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).
SNAP-Ed provides evidenced-based nutrition education classes that are aligned with policy, systems and environmental change strategies to create long lasting community change.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is an integral partner of the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services in this statewide effort.

This position requires a creative self-starter with: Exceptional organizational, and time management skills and ability to prioritize and multitask effectively Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, respectful and inclusively with other staff, volunteers and clients Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing, list-serves, emails and online calendars, grammar/proofreading/editing, and filing.
Knowledge of database entry and maintenance.
Familiarity with online meeting software such as Zoom and Google Suite products.
Ability to file and organize large amounts of information.
In depth budget and fiscal skills.

Ability to work independently Ability to follow written and oral instructions Ability to supervise Ability to coordinate events Ability to perform well under pressure Ability to create reports for management using data gathered from various sources.
Facilitate communication between staff and senior staff Experience working with culturally diverse, low-income persons and/or assistance agencies.
Basic understanding of nutrition and physical activity Familiarity with public assistance programs such as SNAP and WIC Familiarly with program evaluation High School graduation or higher with education or training in basic office management introduction to computers, word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing.
Experience in data analysis and program evaluation.
Experience working with culturally diverse, low-income persons and/or assistance agencies.
Experience with health and wellness programs.
A passion to learn.
Minimum Qualifications: Some college coursework and one year experience related to program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; OR three years of progressively responsible office/administrative experience.
Valid Driver's license or the ability to obtain one and reliable transportation to office and client locations Position Details: This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska.
This is a part-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.

New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
