Description Job Title OMFRC Camp Laborer Location Fairbanks, AK, US Organization Name Behavioral Health/Old Minto Family Recovery Camp Job Summary Job Summary: Old Minto Family Recovery Camp is located thirty miles down the river from Nenana, Alaska.
Old Minto is accessible only by plane, boat or snow machine.
The program provides substance abuse counseling for individuals and their family members in a traditional setting familiar to the Athabascan people.
Job incumbent will provide miscellaneous laborer duties in the camp.
Adhere to the TCC Ch’eghwtsen’ model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Representative Duties: Under the direct supervision of the OMFRC Manager and under general supervision of the Primary Counselor job incumbent will: 1.
Provide miscellaneous laborer duties in the Old Minto Recovery Camp as directed by the OMFRC Manager or the Primary Counselor.
2.
Operates riverboat, four-wheeler and other all-terrain vehicles, as needed.
3.
Operates chainsaws, power tools, drills, table saw and other power tools including hand tools when working.
4.
Routine Maintenance to generator, well house, kitchen and laundry room.
5.
Maintain all equipment and buildings to insure safety of staff and clients.
6.
Do routine inspection of all buildings checking all smoke and CO2 detectors, check all fire extinguishers, doors, windows, stoves and make necessary repairs.
7.
Insure there is enough fire wood cut and have at least 10 cords of wood cut before the river freezes haul when necessary.
8.
To help counselors maintain a safe environment for clients.
To keep records of all gas and diesel usage and haul fuel when necessary.
All fuel tanks 2500 gallons of diesel and 1000 gallons of gas will be filled before the river freezes.
Other Responsibilities: 1.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1.
High school education or GED.
2.
Experience working in Rural Alaska villages.
Knowledge of Recovery Camp preferred.
3.
Knowledge and ability to operate riverboats, snow machines, four wheelers and a variety of power tools safely preferred.
4.
Knowledge and experience in basic maintenance.
5.
Six months sobriety required.
6.
Must be able to lift at least fifty pounds.
7.
Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
8.
Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Supervision Physical demands: Incumbent will be exposed to certain conditions including but not limited to travel by small aircraft, boat and snow machine.
Position requires constant standing, walking, and if necessary some kneeling.
Job incumbent must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Incumbent uses hand tools such as axes, hammers, shovels, and others as needed when working at the camp.
Work is done in an isolated camp setting, with exposure to adverse weather conditions, insects, and wildlife.
There is no running water or electricity set up at camp.
Summation Summation: The job incumbent needs to demonstrate positive role modeling to others and respect to Alaska Native Cultures and Traditions.
